This #3000 whetstone is called "Kei" means follow, and designed to make a best base of the sharpest edge following previous process. It is made of Japanese high quality abrasives, calcined under low temperature. It allows to have smooth movement for sharpening and leaves no deep scare , which means the edge is consistent. It is best to be used before using natural stone or to make good edge.

Size:205×75×25㎜

Production method:Resinoid

Grit:#3000

This series (Kensho) of whetstone is recommended for someone who cares about details of sharpening, precision of sharpening, and superior sharpness. It is also good for migrating from man-made stone to natural stone.

※ There may be difference is size a bit because of hand made product

※ This is harden by high heat so that there is little difference is hardness

※ This may not change even it's sunk in water long time though, it brakes once it gets frozen

I recommend this product
Kensho Kei Whetstone #3000

Wow. I own/tried many different #3000 stones (Shapton Glass, Naniwa Chosera, Morihei, Suehiro, Sigma, and others) and this may be my favorite. In my opinion, this stone is medium hard and gives great feedback. Where I feel this stone really shines is it continuously releases abrasive with minimal loading and/or glazing which allows the user to keep sharpening without refreshing the stone. It leaves a nice semi-hazy polished toothy edge perfect for most kitchen applications. I have not used this stone for wide bevel polishing, but for edge work it is fantastic. I also received excellent customer service from Hiro and would highly recommend him. Thank you Hiro!!!

Hi Geoffrey, Thanks for the review, and most importantly, I'm glad you liked the stone. I also like that the stone doesn't make the blade too too shiny.
